In an effort to continue meeting our legislative mandate to "Secure appropriate recognition of the accomplishments and contributions of the Latino and Puerto Rican population of the state", we are seeking your assistance in identifying viable candidates for the annual awards in the following categories:

· Latino/a Citizen of the Year;
· Promesa Award for Youth; and,
· Latino Community Service Award

The awards are designed to recognize Hispanic men and women and one Hispanic organization in the state that have made significant contributions to our community. Last year, we received numerous submissions for outstanding individuals; if your nominee was not selected for award, please do not hesitate to re-submit their name for this year's competition.

The nomination forms are posted onour website www.cga.ct.gov/lprac. Please consider submitting the names of those who meet the criteria outlined. It is imperative that the nomination be submitted in its entirety as this year we will not accept an incomplete submission. The deadline for submission of nominations is Friday, May 27, 2005. It is vital, that you act on your nomination as fast as possible and submit it promptly as we will not be extending the deadline this year; therefore, please submit your
nomination(s) by the stated deadline.
