Eric Rivera to Attend Harvard Summer Program
In the span of one week, Eric Rivera, associate vice president for Student Affairs, was notified that he was the recipient of two distinct awards.
The Latino/a Knowledge Community of NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education) selected Rivera as its Outstanding Senior Student Affairs Officer for 2007.
According to Jason Casares, chair of the NASPA Latino/a Knowledge Community, Rivera was a natural choice for this year's honors.
"In addition to being dedicated to student development and learning, Eric is committed to empowering and developing Latino/a Student Affairs' professionals who are under-represented in positions of leadership in higher education," Casares said. "I congratulate him – he is very deserving of this award."
Rivera will be honored at the ACPA/NASPA national joint meeting in Orlando in April. More than 11,000 people are scheduled to attend this year’s conference, including Al Gore, the former Vice President and Oscar winner, who will give the keynote address.
